I don't like either logo much - never did.
I actually think it would be best to the drop the <? and ?> completely and just pick a good face for the mark. Perhaps, at that point, make some adjustments to the characters (but it's probably not so necessary). And get some color in it...
If it were me, I think I would try it with...oh heck...doing this quick to see...use a coding face:

I think I like Rockwell the most. Of course, this thread has no basis in reality. 😉
Note: This will likely be the only time ever in my life that I'll recommened using a webfont for any kind of logo or wordmark.
