Where do you buy your domains from?

In the past, I've always used Freeparking since they seemed fairly cheap. Then I started using UKReg (part of fast hosts) but now I've started looking elseware for a good deal.

All I'm looking for is somewhere to park my domain but that I can edit the nameservers.

I use a tiny little registrar called DomainRebels. Probably, there are others out there just like it, but I can change the DNS information (and everything else too) whenever I want. It's cheap and I've been using them for four years now. Zero complaints.

Basically they sell you a service but it takes as little as "a letter from a local lawyer" for them to pass over your details. The court doesn't even have to get involved!!

I know alot of people who won't touch GoDaddy with a ten foot pole. I've never used them myself...

If I had anything to hide, I wouldn't post here under my real name NetNerd. I just think it's wrong for someone to sell a product or service and then do exactly the opposite when any hint of trouble comes along.

I've used Dotster quite a bit (dotster.com). But, IIRC, they've another "front end" that is actually priced lower ... if I can find it, I'll try and remember to post it back here...

I've also got one or two at godaddy.com ... generally, they were set up by someone else and then moved under my control....

RegisterFly is pretty decent. But their site always seems somewhat slow.

Who knows how many front-ends they might have ... but they generally seem to do their "work" on a secure server at registerapi.com, and AFAICT this record is the same company as "dotster.com", as shown above....

Dotster has tons of resellers, but all purchases go through Dotster's secure registerapi.com.

I've been using mydomain.com for awhile now, and you can't beat their price 😉

Unfortunately, I don't think you can transfer from big daddy dotster to mydomain.com too easily, either?

But, I could be wrong; I remember that I tried once, and didn't end up doing it. Can't remember why.....
