Hi

I have this piece of code

$cv2_naam = "Extern_CV_".$row["strNameFore"]."_".$row["estrName"].".".$persnr.".".$extern_cv2_taal.".".$cv2_ext;

$row["strNameFore"] is a variable for firstname
$row["estrName"] is a variable for lastname

these variables come out of an mysql database

there are people that have accents in theire firstname or lastname

How can replace these accent with letters with no accent

for example

Extern_CV_José_ésa.223073.en.doc
must be
Extern_CV_Jose_esa.223073.en.doc

$foo = str_replace("é","e",$bar);

That should sort you out...

If that is the only one then all well and good - if there are more, then a regexp may be better for you.

there also accent names with an a and an o in the database

If there are only a couple - why not use str_replace a couple of times... will be easier than trying out a regexp... And not a very big time difference either.

Remember if you put the str_replace function in a loop make sure you but a dot before the equal sign.
