I reviewed one of the biggest real estate sites.
Basically, the thumbnail will be used to click to display the large image.
In their page, if mouse just on thumbnail, the large image switch happens right away. They are using javascripts to do it at the clients site.
My questions are to use the javascript by move mouse on thumbnail and the large image shows right away at the clients side, all the large images and thumbnails are already downloaded to the client's computer.
Say if there are 10 large images, even you just see 1, but other 9 are alreayd in your computer, plus 10 thumbnails.
In this case, why we need thumbnails of these 10 large images. we can just the large image at the thumbnail position too.
This way, we don't need thumbnails. We save use some traffic by not download extra 10 thumbnails, not have to create thumbnails and save thumbnails on the server. Not have to program to mangage the thumbnails, not have to program to keep the records of the thumbnail and its large images.
All we need are the large images set. Becuase you drop all the large images of a property to the client anyway when he visist the page, anyway.
So why they drop all the large images and thumbnails to the clients side and still using thumbnail (not save taffic).
