Browser Displays "No input file specified"

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie in php functions and I have a question my friends. Why is it that my browser displays a "No input file specified" message? My code is to simply output a string in the browser using a simple function like the one below. Thank you very much in advance.

function displaytext($text)
{
	echo $text;
}
$string = ('I want to print this out');
displaytext($string);

?>
[code]

First off: why would you run a function like that? I hope it's just example code...

Second... what server are you running? Shared? Local? Windows? Linux? Most likely it's an issue in the php.ini with the "doc_root" or setup.

Give us some information about your setup, we'll go from there.

Hello Sir. Yes it's just an example i tried to execute. I'm running php 4 on windows local machine. I tried the code below and it worked while my previous code did not. May I ask for your assistance sir? Thank you very much in advance. 🙂

echo ('asdasdas');

Try changing thsi:
$string = ('I want to print this out');

to:
$string = 'I want to print this out';
