Even by the way they get their results I am suprised. Do people really talk about Java that much, I would have thought C/++ would be No.1 by a long shot.

well, i know here at least over here (sydney), if your doing any sort of programming at uni, its java all the way. i have several friends have done such degrees. not sure on the details, but they all program in java.

i would think the way they measure these stats would actualy handicap php to some extent also, as there isn't really that much official training avaliable. well, as far as im aware. and there are allot of self tought developers around.

Ruby seems to be picking up speed not far off the top list. Im more surprised with Python actually, I think the growth with Ruby as stunted its growth. I am not surprised with Java though it was there last year wasn't it?

Languages I am not surprised about is C, C++, Perl, Visual basic going down it shows in the job market. Why is javascript on the list, can you actually call it a language or a programming language?

Im not sure i understand that question. Javascript is an extremely powerfull object orientated language. Maybe the only reason you couldn't call it a programming language is because its really a scripting language, but then, if were going to say that, then php, perl, python are all in the same boat.
