[RESOLVED] (date - time) conversion

echo "NZ Time is: ". date("d/m/y - h:i:s", time() + $offset;); 
?>

Im using this to convert the time on my server in Utah? to my local time however this doesnt seem to affect the date only the time.

can someone please help me figure this out.

NZ time is 8 hours ahead yes? So you can use strtotime( "+8 hours" ) to generate the timestamp.

heh well from my host it seems to be 8 hours..

sorry if i sound stupid but,

tried echo strtotime( "+8 hours" ); and it returns -1 ?

ok then i tried this..

echo "NZ Time is: ". date("d/m/y - h:i:s", strtotime( "+8 hours" ));

and it returns..

hi thanks for quick response.
i mite just be missing somthing but i think this does the same as the code i had before? if i run

echo "NZ Time is: ". date("d/m/y - h:i:s",strtotime("+8 hours") );

on my host which is in the states it returns:

NZ Time is: 02/12/05 - 01:49:19

which isnt exactly what i want it does add 8 hours onto the time but as that reads it is 1:49 am here... so it should return 03/12/05 - 01:49:19 its the date thats not clicking over any ideas as to why this is?

On my machine the date is incremented as well as the time.

echo date( 'd/m/Y h:i:s', strtotime( "+16 hours" )); // 16 hours to roll to next day
// Output: 03/12/2005 04:58:13

ok is it possible that my server configuration could be causing this? because even if i put +16 it still says its the 2nd when it should definatly be the 3rd

ok this could be the reason but i dont see why... i ran this...

echo date( 'd/m/Y h:i:s a', strtotime( "+8 hours" ));
//and it returned : 02/12/2005 02:09:32 pm

Ok fully dont worry.. i am 20 hours ahead of my server not 8 :rolleyes: all works perfect now 🙂 thanks for showing me strtotime();
