multi step web form or wizards ?

Hi, I would need to create a multi step web form like a Windows wizard, with Next and Back buttons. Around 8 steps with many fields and validations between steps.

Any freeware package available ?
If not, suggestions on how to code it ? 😕

These can be fun to build, but challenging depending on the level of items....

A simple way would be to use divs or collapsable tables to show/hide the various 'windows' in the wizard and then have it submit all at once...

More complex way would be to build single pages for everything and have the foward arrow be a submit and the back arrow an href passing an id around to re-load the data into the 'window' as needed with info from the db
