New Line and Tab Feed

Hi,

I am storing poem in a database which saves as :-

YOU: My heart opens for anyone or anything to come by.\r\nAnd I will close it whenever it makes me cry.\r\nI will meet love in the eyes or die alone.\r\n

Now, what I want is that that when I show this Poem, it marks "new line" and "tab feed" instead of "\n" and "\r".

Like this :-

"YOU: My heart opens for anyone or anything to come by.
 And I will close it whenever it makes me cry.
 I will meet love in the eyes or die alone."

if I understood, you wish to have the first line after each line break indented when displayed in the browser?

my approach:
1. wrap the line-break separated parts in <p> tags
2. assign a css style with a text-indent definition

for example:

$poem = "My heart opens for anyone or anything to come by.\r\nAnd I will
close it whenever it makes me cry.\r\nI will meet love in the eyes or die
alone.\r\n";

$paragraphs = explode("\n", $poem);

$formatted_poem = "<p style=\"text-indent:20px;margin:0px;\">"
                  .implode("</p><p style=\"text-indent:20px;margin:0px;\">", $paragraphs)
                  ."</p>";

echo $formatted_poem;
?>

Actually I wanted that where there is "\n", there should be a Line break.

and where there is a "\r", there should be a Tab Break.

That's it.

There might be something in PHP that converts it.

Matto, Thank you very much for your reply but it does not help. The Poem is still shown with "\n\r", instead of Line Feed.
