low resolution and high resolution!!

Hi,
let us say am doing a photo album website (example)
and i want to view the small icon of the image and when clicked it enlarge in another screen ...
the problem, is there a solution to show the image low resolution (easy to be loaded) or just a resize thing !!!
or should be available online (uploaded) 2 version of each image, low and high resolution !!!
dont know if there is solution,
wish to advice me 🙂

you can use the [MAN]gd[/MAN] functions in php to create thumbnails of images. this requires a bit of research but it isn't terribly difficult
