comparison ASP.NET and PHP

Hallo

i m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but if it is not some 1 tell me where to post it

i m working on PHP my boss decide to move all project to ASP.NET ,because it is more secure , how can i prove that PHP more secure than ASP.NET

you cant. there is no such thing as one language being more secure than another, it really depends how well you code.

you could tell him your hopeless at .NET and therefore your .NET app will be insecure. hehe. probably not wise though.

thorpe's right, it just depends on how you code, and also how you configure your server(s).

That also seems like a BIG move to, all the way from open source to microsoft... hope he decides to stick with PHP.

I've also coded some stuff in asp.net, wasnt the best experience ever....those apps (especially with code behind) seem to get very large, very quick.

Firstly perhaps you should search in future this argument about PHP vs ??? has come up a lot especially with ASP.Net.

Firstly you cannot compare two different things, its like comparing a apple to an orange, its just not possible however you can give a personal opinion on the matter.

Secondly do not argue with your boss no matter how wrong he/she maybe, however you should probably ask him how he got information on .NET being more secure then say PHP, mainly it comes down to the developer using their tools which really decides whether the application will be secure or not, not the language itself although it will try and put some security precautions in place.

If your developing for Windows a lot of the time, ASP.NET is better suited than PHP in my opinion mainly because .NET is aimed for the Windows platform whilst PHP was designed for *nix systems.

what i need now is to know how can i enhance my code in security,i need to ready more about PHP security ways ,,
the only problem is that i m working using front page and when i need to modify the layout it takes time while ASP.NET its just drag and drop and every thing ready.
can any body here give site and PHP security ways?

FrontPage is evil, learn HTML and use TextPad. Although some others believe Macromedia's DreamWeaver is worth installing.

The PHP Security Consortium is a good place to start for php security advice.

Yes, I would suggest Dreamweaver if you still want to use WYSIWYG. It (especially version 8) has MUCH better PHP support than frontpage does.

Using a WYSIWYG does not say whether or not you know markup. I know some very competent web-designers who use WYSIWYG editors (in fact, I don't know any who don't). They all understand XHTML and CSS completely but they find it more conducive to a creative environment to be able to see what they're creating as they create it.

Nah, personally I just like knowing my code. You do remember writing every line of code, even years later when you look through it.

I do stand by the fact that WYSIWYG editors dont produce the best HTML in the world, but if you prefer them over just coding everything, then go for it, and im pretty sure most people would prefer dreamweaver of frontpage if theyve used both of them, and if they were WYSIWYG developers.

someone that uses WYSIWYG is probably more of a designer than a developer since they need to see what there doing instead of just knowing what your doing.

exactly, i wouldnt either. i mean most WYSIWYG generated code is browser dependant(mainly dependant on MSIE's rendering engine.) and in no way is the
the code nice to look at.
