a very newbish question

hey, I know this is a very simple thing for you guys but I'm new to buillding websites. I just bought some code for a site and it included a bunch of php files. I'm using freewebs temporarily to test things out but I'm a little confused on what to do. Do I just create new pages under site mananger and have an htm extension for them? Please help me out. thanks

The web server has to have php installed on it. Check that the one you are using does so. It should then have been configured to recognise and process php files with the file extention .php
PHP files could have (almost) any extention you like, so long as Apache has been told what to do with them. My current host installed a new server and the twits configured it to expect .phtml - never heard of that one myself. Had to get them to add the .php extention to process my scripts after they migrated us to it - not going to rewrite the things just to please them.
So check with whoever is hosting yours just exactly what the setup is - and insist on the .php extention or face a rewrite when you move.
When you are sure that the server is set up correctly then just upload the files with the names they already have and you should be in business.

I dont think freewebs has PHP installed on it, or MYSQL/any database. Try www.100webspace.com . A common extension for PHP is *.php
