Posting Radio Button Values

I'm sure this has got to be really simple but I've been searching all night and can't fiugre out why when I try to INSERT this field into my DB it doesnt work.

The Sex field in the DB is a char(1) type
in my form I think I have it right:

its the processing page that I think I have something wrong just not sure what

$strHorseSex = $_POST['Sex'];

...

$strInsertQuery = "INSERT INTO horses (horse_name, horse_dob, horse_sex, horse_height, horse_color, horse_sire, horse_dam) ".
"  VALUES ('$strHorseName', '$intHorseDOB', '$strHorseSex', '$intHorseHeight', '$strHorseColor', '$strHorseSire', '$strHorseDam')";

all my other fields are posting to the DB just fine where they should be..
do i need some type of loop that checks to see what radio button is checked or...? If so could ya please write it out, im HORRIBLE with loops..

The code I see looks fine...it has to be a database problem. Make sure your database column is actually named 'horse_sex' and there was no typo when creating it.

the mysql_insert_id() isnt working either its returning a "Warning: mysql_insert_id(): A link to the server could not be established" error so if ya have any ideas on that too itd be great but I figured I might ask that in a different post its a different issue...altho i can also just comment out $intHorseID = mysql_insert_id(); line and the error doesnt show..

like i said all the fields are posting correctly except for that one and its showing "A" (in the D😎 when I select something for that field (sex)...

Ok, what happens when you do this?

Also, try to keep all your variables and superglobal arrays lowercase as php's case senstivity could cause confusion

Ok ill try it, but question, u took out the action so how does it know where to go? And it was the process page, not the form page that was saying "Array"

I dont recognize some of the tags u used..

no i just mean run that as a seperate file alltogether. since their is not action in the form it should redirect to itself...

Ok, it prints out M...the selection I had made...

so what does this mean - I can I get it to do that where its suppose to? 🙂

but theres nothing different about that other than some other type of html tags..im just trying to unsetstand what would be makin the difference..

heh yeh but i dont understand why its not working. why would it return Array ? it must be in Insert2.php Try use simple debugging technique's to detirmine where the problem is.

Your Problem with mysql_insert_id(); is that your using the value it creates $intHorseID, before it is created,

$rsInsertResult = ConnectDatabase($strInsertQuery, $intHorseID); //line19

//insert the new horse id 
//get the id of the last horse record inserted 
$intHorseID = mysql_insert_id();  //line23

Your using it as part of ConnectDatabase()on line 19 but it isn't given a value until line 23.
I assume ConnectDatabase() is a function for connecting and inserting the data to the database.
