Hi all. I've been thinking it would be a good idea to make a centralized posts about web hosting - what people use, what they recommend, what they DON'T recommend. It would help me a lot... and I'm sure other people too.

As for myself, I use register4less.com for domains - great great service. I have not yet found the perfect web host, but I'm looking hard cause I need one for my blog site project (PHP, mySQL, phpMyAdmin, and 1 to 2 gigs space for a few $$ a month).

Well there is only one host IMO, unless you want PostgreSQL which I am trying to bug them for but: www.servage.net 🙂

15 gigs space any one? 330 transfer? Option for customized plan also availible.

I market their services more than my own... I should be paid!

I use ASO, they have pgsql, mysql and many perl modules, upgrade to latest php version (not php 5 yet but its in the works). Good host in my opinion, and very good support.

Servage.net have improved greatly. They offer 25 gigs space, 510 gigs transfer and get this 🙂

PHP4, PHP5, MySQL4 and MySQL5 all accessible on the same account. Not bad ey, I'm going to start asking for PostgreSQL again 😃

mah bad piersk😉 will do next time... but since this is up, yeah jason thanks a lot for the advice. servage is what i ended up using for my site, and it's working like a charm. costumer service is quick - but not very effective... takes a while to solve any php / db related issues
