Count difference between current date and timestamp

Does anyone know a way to count the amount of days between a timestamp stored in a database and the current date.

I am generating a timestamp 2 months in the future. When it is 7 days before that date I want to email the user letting them know their account will be expiring.

are you using mySQL? if so read up on the Date and Time Functions, specifically DATEDIFF().
