PHP Page don't work when linked to, viewed straight works great.

I've made a php feedback form, which if you go to it directly, works great

http://www.mightyworld.com/dev/feedback.php

username: pete
password: america

But if you try to link to the feedback.php page, using for instance the "contact us" button on this page:

http://www.mightyworld.com/dev/support.html

then the page breaks, only loading up a portion and getting all jacked up.

Why would the feedback.php page work great when looked at straight, but fall apart when linking to it?

My cache has been cleared, and several others are still viewing the problem, so I don't believe it to be "cache" related.

Yes, the first link does work (I think because you're coming from an outside domain) but after you go to the second link:

http://www.mightyworld.com/dev/support.html

and use the button marked "contact us" which is linked to the feedback.php like this:

After using that link, the page doesn't load completely.

I didn't come from an outside domain...I visited the page and then clicked on the link.

Aren't they two different pages? Or are you using an include?

Perhaps you should check first that you're linking to the correct page?

At the time of my post, yes it was the correct link, but because this forum hadn't provided any solutions, I rewrote the php from scratch, changed it's name from feedback.php to contactmw.php and switched the link - Although the link has changed, and the php rewritten - I'm still having the same problem.

works fine if you type the url in, but breaks then linking to it

I'd be interested to know if anyone else sees the link to the php like I do (see attached .gif) The 3 friends I have testing it from different locations have the same issue, so I've ruled out my own machine)

I'm not sure the problem lies in the php code loading slowly, because if you type the URL directly or link to it from outside of mightyworld.com then it loads fully and fast. I suspect this link loads great:

http://www.mightyworld.com/dev/contactmw.php

It's a direct link, loading the same page - why would it break? 😕

Not all servers report the referrer information...since you rely upon it this could be the problem. On a cursory glance what comes after the refferer bit in your code is not loading. So, the problem is probably with that...

You can't force referrer information from another server...I'm not sure that your approach is the best way to do this.

what part of the code do I (or can I) eliminate to ignore the "referrer" information. Can I just chop that out?

Please keep in mind that I am not a coder by any stretch, and the php forms that I've been working with have been made by others - I make toys for a living and I'm just trying to post this site before Christmas, so I don't have sad kids Sunday morning.

I'm really not sure. What is in these files that it's grabbing? You could chop out where I've marked above and see what happens...but it seems it wants this information for the form.

Well before using your last post, I did as you suggested and commented out the portion of the referring server . . . tested with fingers crossed, and . . . . IT'S FIXED!!!!!
