SQLite 3 and PHP

I do not want to use bundled sqlite library that comes with PHP. How and where do I need to specify the directory where the external sqlite library is found on my system?
Is this don in the php.ini file?

You help on this is very much appreciated.

you could maybe configure it at compile time, but im not sure. i know you can use sqlite3 through PDO though.

No, this is done at compile time. In php.ini you can simply either enable or disable sqlite - and if it's built in statically into php, you can't even do that.

If you want to use Sqlite3 (which is a good idea), you MUST use PDO. PDO is a good idea anyway.

I would like to use Sqlite3 and the following lines are now in php.ini:

extension=php_pdo.dll
extension=php_sqlite.dll

What do I need to do next to start using Sqlite3 with PHP5 the same way I use MySQL? (i.e. use the external Sqlite3 dll)
