2mb upload limit??

I managed to get a upload script but it only allowed 2mb which for what i wish to use it for is not very good as the user i need them to be allowed 500mb and upload exe files.

Please note i tried editing php.ini file from its original value to 5000000000 which = roughly 600mb and allowing uploads this is for a site that will hold internally a lot of things for the users such as service packs 1 for xp and such like.

I just wondered if anyone knew how to get round or actually do it so it will allow .exe files and around 500 - 600mb.

uploading / downloading anything above 250mg isn't recommended over http. its not made for such work and i think you'll find most times it will currupt files / drop connection.

hence the need for ftp. file transfer proticol is made for transfering, you guessed it, files.

so you would recommend using FTP over HTTP is there a way that i would be able to integrate a GUI with FTP using PHP and MYSQL?

Also the project i am working on would all be locally hosted from a intranet would that make any difference to HTTP dropping ,corrupting files?

Or is it a problem in general with HTTP?

HTTP just really isn't meant to handle large files. You can create a gui for FTP access using PHPs [man]ftp[/man] protocols.
