link to mysql record on page

Hi,
I'm trying to link to a specific record from one page to another.
Let me try to explane:
I have a homepage with some of the records of the latest news table + a link to "read more".
I have the news page with all of the records of the latest news table
Now when I click the read more link on the homepage I want to go to that specific record on the news page.
I've tried to use

printf ("<a href='http://www.crivic.com/latest_news/index.php?id=$rij[id]'>(read more...)</a>");

But this doesn't work
Could anybody help me

How does the news page get the records from the news table? What do you mean by "doesn't" work--do you get an error message, or the wrong record, or a blank page? Can you show us more code?

It is going to the index.php page in the latest_news directory, not to that specific record on that page

$ev = mysql_query("select * from news ORDER BY id desc");
while($rij = mysql_fetch_array($ev))

I think you can use something like:

echo ("<a href='http://www.usaseventeen.com/latest_news/index.php#$rij[id]'>(read more...)</a>");

where your $rij[id] is something like latest_news1, latest_news2.....

and each of your latest news item in latest_news/index.php should be named something like:

he is passing the right record into the address bar :

But he is not going to that specific record on that page

In the source code of index.php,where every new article starts,change it to this:
