Looking for a script...

or for info on how to modify one (but I am a complete newbie to php). Is this the place to ask this question?

I want something to manage download links. I want to be able to set them to expire on a certain date or after a certain number of downloads (total, not per user) and I also want to see stats on who downloaded them. I want this script to generate a link for me so the person doesn't see the real file location.

I've seen several free scripts at another site that have some of these components, but I just can't find one that has them all. Any ideas?

That's where I found all the pieces, but nothing that has them all together. So, now I'm looking for help here 🙂 !

well, were not really here to write scripts. if youv'e got some code that youv'e written and your stuck we can help, but other than that....

Any ideas where I can go to find this? I just don't know anything about writing php code or the whole database thing, other than the editing I had to do to customize the software I have on my site, mainly zencart, but some other stuff, too. I guess I could download all the scripts that have the pieces and try to patch them together somehow, but I just don't know where to start.

Best place: a book or online tutorials.

While I'm sure we'd love to teach you how to do it, we don't have the time to do that. Grab a book that introduces you into PHP 4/5 and mySQL. Work through it. Then think about what you want from your script, and try to develop it yourself (I'm pretty sure i could do it, so it's not impossible (please don't consider that an offer)), and then see what you get. When you're stuck on errors or with a block, that's when you come for help.

Thanks, Brett. I do appreciate the advice...I just don't have time to do that right now. I am entering a Business Information Systems program in February and will most likely learn this stuff there, but I need the script now. I did find a forum where I can post what I'm looking for and maybe get it done.
