Need scripting help

hello,

I have the following problem...
On my site I use two include statements to include certain content... The include statemtns are followed one after another:

include statement #1
include statement #2

Both of them are triggered when a user clicks a link (link1 & link2)

Ok, so when link1 is clicked the first include statement brigns up the appropriate content, but the second link still appears below that content...

The same situation is with link2: when its clicked the second part of the content is brought up, but Link1 stays above that content...

My question is:
Is there a way to intergrade these two include statements or make some new code that would hide one part when another part is brought up...

For example, if i click on Link1, the content appears, AND link2 dissapears from the view (below that content) and vice versa...

I hope this aint too confusing... if it is let me know and I'll try to explain it further...

You want to refresh the page when the link is clicked, or just change what is displayed in the current page? If you just want to change what's displayed in the current page, you don't want PHP. You want to use Javascript to change the display properties of the two pieces of content.

If it is to be done with a refresh - how are you trying to decide which piece is being asked for?

it doesnt really matter whether a page refresh or whats displayed as long as one piece of the content is displayed and the other is hidden...

Depending on what link the user clicks - link1 or link2

Pretty simple, if I understand your dilemma correctly.

Basically, encode link 1 and link 2 to point back to the same page, but at the end of the link, put a ?page=1 or ?page=2, depending on which link.

Then, at the beginning of where you want the content,

switch ($_GET['page']) {
   case 1:
      include("link1.php");
      break;
   case 2:
      include ("link2.php");
      break;
   default:
      echo "Please select a page";
}

And it will include page 1 if link 1 is clicked, and page 2 if page 2 is clicked.

This is for a news script...
The first part displays the TOP news which has different formatting (uses different tempalte) and the rest is simply a list of the older news articles... So here it goes:

Why not just have two separate pages?

I there's no need to use two separate pages, because I use two separate templates...

Also if i follow your advice and make it two pages, wouldnt the second page be displayed right below the first one, because two includes follow each other...
