Editing PSD Graphics for PHP site in Dreamweaver: .html to .php correctly

I am editing a file that is already sliced and optimized and residing on a dynamic site. I needed to edit and as I am uploading it to the remote server I see the file ImageReady gave me in addition to the various jpgs is "index.html"

The file on the remote server is index.php. I am hesitant to just change the .html to .php I am not sure how to turn this file into index.php.

Do I insert the index.html into the remote server's folder and assume Dreamweaver will convert it? Is there some action I take in Dreamweaver to convert it? In Imageready or Fireworks?

If you rename the index.html file to index.php it'll overwrite the original index.php page.
If there's anything on that page you'd like to keep then just copy and paste the code from the html file into the php file (it'll probably be just a table holding the image slices together.)

Upload the index.php file with the jpgs (not the psd file) and it'll be ok.
