[RESOLVED] Retaining Form Data on Back Button "Pressage"

That's right... pressage....

Page2.php is the action for my form on Page1.php. If a user submits information incorrectly, they can use the back button to return to it, but the values are not retained.

I tried adding:

header("Cache-Control: max-age=3600, must-revalidate");

to the top of my form page, as well as the page2.php, but it didn't work. Should it? Any idea why it wouldn't? Any suggestions on how I can accomplish what I need?

I know Firefox does this already to some inputs. Not sure how PHP can control it. I would think that "must-revalidate" would say that the cache is emptied or discarded once you leave since the browser has to revalidate the information. I.e. it has to re-download the content and such. So revalidation really trumps what you're trying to do wouldn't you say?

I think that might be yoru problem. Try removing the "must-revalidate" and see if that works.

well, in answage to your questage...

assign the form values to session variables then when you go back to the form, fill in the values with the stored data.

Or, in the same way, you could assign the form values to cookies to re-populate the form even after the session has ended.

does that make sensage?
