Best way to update multiple fields...

Hey People.

i was wondering if someone could give me some pointers as to the best way of going about this.

I have a SQL Table which hold 12 savings (either £pounds or minutes) per project but which could be from any month.

For example

ID / Savings Date / Project number / Savings£ / Savings Hours
1 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
2 01/01/2005 23 142.23 3
3 01/01/2005 23 642.23 3
4 01/01/2005 23 742.23 3
5 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
6 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
7 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
8 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
9 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3
10 01/01/2005 23 342.23 3

now i need a form which will allow the user to make changes to either the savings hours or minutes.

I designed a form which has 2 input boxes across and how ever many line of savings down.

how would I write the php script to save the changes back to the database?

I assume that each input box wouild have the name $id so that i can reference it back to the table, but i can't quite get my head round it.

You can map each row with a php array in your FORM. e.g.

<input name="row[1][savings]" ... >
<input name="row[1][savinghours]" ...>
<input name="row[2][savings]" ... >
<input name="row[2][savinghours]" ... >

Once this is posted you can catch all the fields easily by: $rows = $_POST['row'];

You can then make loop to update each row in your database.
