database manipulation class

Hi to all!
Could you suggest me a database manipulation class that will make it easy to work with databases (at least MySQL) ? something like the following class http://justinvincent.com/home/articles.php?articleId=2 but written in php5 ?

it requires pear, is there a pure class ?

PDO support is the default in PHP5.1, and I believe is recommended over say, mysqli.

That said, what really are you looking for? What are your requirements? Have you checked out the PHP Manual?

I meant the following thing :
i need a ready php5 class that does not require anything else,
in examples that you suggested to me classes require PEAR, that does not suit me.

Then you have to use mysqli, or the older mysql extension. However, mysql support is not bundled with PHP5 by default, so you cant have an absolute guarantee that they will be available, though chances are they are.

Alternatively, use SQLite, which is bundled with PHP5 by default. SQLite is also available in PDO, which if you are using PHP5.1 wont need PEAR since it is present by default.
