Automically send mail on given date

Hi,

I'm trying set up a script whereby on a given date pulled from a mysql table, an email is sent to a given address also from a table.

I can write the code to send the email, but is there anyway I could get this code to work without actually physically visiting the page with the code on?

Is this possible? or shall I call the code from a popular page on my site, which would guarantee a visitor per day.

Any help appreciated.

You should use the scheduler (aka "cron") to run your script at a given time of day (say 04:23 local time).

This script will then check whether there are any pending scheduled emails which are not yet sent, and send them (flagging as sent so that they aren't send again).
