Lookup PHP functions with AJAX

You just type the first bit of a PHP function at this website and it gives you the argument list, short description and verison number. Really useful for PHP developers.

What I like most about this is that the author did not use one of these monster Ajax libraries to make things happen...short and sweet.

It's a pretty handy thing...but I normally know the function so I just append php.net/$function and I'm off.

Good idea... don't think it will go anywhere. Most of the time you're looking for a function to do something. What would be a GREAT feature is to search the descriptions so you can have a query like:
"Cut string into parts" and that would return strtok or substr.....

But good idea though... looks neat... Ajax is really tickeling my fancy....

The site's cool, don't get me wrong, but most of the time its not which function you want to use, it's how to use it that's the more important thing, so searching the manual is probably easier in my opinion.

Meh, I have a bookmark on firefox, like so:

That works for me. All I have to do is click it, a lil box comes up and i'm away 😉

heh... if you want a more intuitive interface (and you use Firefox), try the "RubNub for YubNub" extension. Then you can just type "php readdir" and it will take you to the proper place in the manual. Or "g PHPBuilder" and it will do a google search for PHPBuilder on Google.

Good grief. Who needs a Firefox extension for that? I just have a bookmark entry.

The URL is http://www.php.net/%s and I gave that a keyword of "php". Et woller.

I guess all the extension does is save you selecting "New Bookmark" from the menu...

Firstly, thanks for the support Brett 😃

Anyway, Weedpacket --- you are right for that specific function (search) bookmarks work well...but I would suggest you first go to http://www.yubnub.org and type in either 'ge' or 'ls' to see a list of commands (the first are community promoted commands) and see how many useful things can be done. YubNub (and its community) is amazing.

RubNub for YubNub is just a very easy way to use YubNub. So give it a shot...I hate to see people shoot it down with out atleast checking it out.

I would love to hear your comments/suggestions on it after that.
