Weird MySQL Data After Import

Hi All,
I have been given a few CSV files that i need to import into a MySQL database, i have done this and imported the data etc etc, the data is simple and straight forward its just "Firstname" , "Lastname" & "Email" the problem is however the script i have written checks for a valid email syntax etc and is failing verification on 'ALL' the email addresses in the database, the code works fine i think its the data in the MySQL database itself as it looks like this:

The data didnt go into the DB like that and is properly formatted in the CSV file does anyone have any other idea's as to what is causing this ?

Try importing it without validating the e-mail.

What happens when the e-mail isn't in the proper format? Does it all just stop?

Gotta see the code you are using to insert this into the DB.

The validating of email addresses was done (or attempted to be done) after the importing of the CSV file ... the importing of the data was just a simple "LOAD DATA INFILE .... " from the SQL prompt...

i have found a solution but its only temporary it seems to be adding a line break or a space or some other character after the email address in the database if i remove the end character from each email address field the code works... but that doesnt explain why its happened in the first place as that extra character isnt in the original CSV file ....

what's in the CSV file to denote field breaks?
and how are you refferring to that in the LOAD DATA INFILE line?

Example SQL query used :

LOAD DATA INFILE 'Aberdeen.csv' INTO TABLE customer_contacts FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' (Lastname,Firstname,Email);
