FCKeditor vs BBcode?

I need some forms that would let the user format the text just a little.
The format that I'm letting the user to use is bold, italic, font size, links and some alignments.
I'm trying FCKeditor, but it's too robust for what I want (alghough it can be well customized).
I'm wondering if there's any other nice utility even if it's more basic, but that can suit my needs?
Anything that you'd recommend?
Also, what's more secure to use? a FCKeditor that handles html tags directly or BBcode?
Any help/suggestions will be appreciated!

Either are pretty secure from what I understand. So it's up to you and what you want to use. Do you want your users to have a WYSIWYG editor? yes: FCKeditor. No: bbcode
Do you want to add functionality later? Yes: FCKeditor or BBCode
Do you want to code it yourself? Yes: BBcode No: FCKeditor

It's in preference, and how much work you want to do.

I would prefer BBcode, but I would need a nice toolbar like the one in phpBB
Does anybody knows of anything like it that I could use? 😃

I think that the 'toolbar' you are speaking of is actually a MOD for the phpBB2 forums software called BB Code Box, and there is a new one also called Advanced BB Code Box 5.0.0 and you can get them both right from the phpBB site at this link phpBB2 home page . Naturally you would have to run phpBB to use that MOD.

There's always Moxicode's TinyMCE Editor which is nice and simple.
