Help Needed in Choosing Right Program

Hello -- I'm sure this is going to be an annoyingly stupid question, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway 😉

I'm trying to create a small, simple database that will allow people to add listings for veterinarians that they recommend.

I should be able to seperate the listings by section, and the users should be required to fill out the vet's name, city, state, contact information, and their own user ID/email address, along with an optional comments area.

Can anyone think of a simple, free, PHP script or program that I could modify to accomplish this? I've been browsing various free classified listing scripts, but none of them seem to be modifiable to accomplish what I'm hoping for.

If anyone can suggest something, I'd be greatly appreciative. I've installed some PHP programs before, but I'm honestly a total PHP idiot, for anything beyond basic installation and administration. :queasy:

Hmm. You might setup the ning.com "restaurant review with maps" to do what you want.

Hmm.. not so much. Unless I'm missing something, it's not letting me alter the 'restaurant', 'cuisine' and other food specific fields.

Back to the drawing board...

Yeah, I looked at "geekstory", put together (somehow) by Elizabeth from right here.

Although the site seems to indicate that I should be able to contribute code, I'm not sure that all the functionality is available just yet --- I couldn't seem to figure out how to either edit the code "on site" nor upload an edited version; however, I didn't spend a lot of time with it --- I'm pretty sure that there's sftp access, for example.

Also, not sure what the "clone this app" thing does, exactly.

Well, if it was tough for you, and you know what you're doing.. imagine how a novice like me felt 🙂

The super cool people who created Link Department - the best linking program I have EVER used - are helping me modify it for our database. They've been really helpful....
