mail() problems.. on 1 server OK, on the other Messed Up

hi guys,

any quick info regarding php/server settings that could be causing this problem of mine?

I've got a simple mail() routine that sends email from a contact form..

on the client's website, i've been having problems getting the mail right..

the FROM and REPLY-TO doesnt seem to work.. it's always EMPTY.. and sometimes it leaks out to my email message/body/content...

but using the exact same script on my own server, it's perfect..

what could be wrong?

1.) Don't post your phpInfo files. It's a security risk...
2.) You're running a more recent version of PHP, may be the cause

It points it out that in 4.3.0 (Windows Only) it added the support for extra headers other than "Cc". So that may be an issue, not quite sure. It really doesn't say anything more than that (or if it's supported previous to 4.3.0 with a *nix build).

And, I've noticed that safe_mode is ON on their server.... that could also be what's blocking it.... matter of fact... I'm 99% sure that's it... take safe-mode off and see if that helps...

tried not using and CC.. same error..

i've also noticed by the way that on the client's server the message is messed up.. no html formatting.. well could be due to the header's not being set properly also..

umm. isnt safemode more on directory and file stuffs? i dont see how it is related to the mail() function

and also.. i dont think the client can chaneg the settings on his host.. will have him try.

i tried sending mail using NO HEADERS mail($to,$subject,$msg); and it seemed to work fine where the FROM column in email clients is finally showing info..

but there's no way for me to set the proper FROM email coz it seems the server is not accepting headers properly.

If they have PEAR installed, use that. It's more powerful and robust. Guaranteed to work if it's installed.

About safemode:

i've not played with PEAR ever.. perhaps i should start getting into it..

darn.. so it IS safe mode.. sorry i missed that.. darn.. what am i to do if i can't change safemode settings? any other means besides pear?

PHPMailer possibly. Different host? Not too many means around it...

NO CC and BCC
Basic Mail() only.
Multiple calling of the MAIL function

oh well, at least i tried to look for solution for client and didnt just give up and say "sorry your server's not configured right."

I know it's not prefered, but you could try putting the php in a seperate page than the form, form.php and formphp.php. You could host the formphp.php on your server. I know this is not preferred, but it may be a temporary solution....if it works, I've never tried sending data over multiple domains.
