Can't parse certain php files.

Pretty much a newbie here, but lemme see if i can give you something to help me figure out what's going on.

I'm running windows 2000 w/ apache2, perl, and php5 installed (and presumed working)

I want to install a php bt tracker, stuck it in .../htdocs/tracker. However, whenever i access the index.php it loads as text to be downloaded, instead of being parsed. I know php is installed correctly, because i can load a simple test page from that same folder (the tracker folder). I've edited the config file for the tracker, but not the coding in any of the other files.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

The mime type for the file might be wrong, and instead windows could think it's a text file. This could happen if you edited the file with something like Notepad. Not sure how to fix this, search for changing mimetypes in windows on google.

Ok, I went and did a search on google for "changing mimtypes windows 2000" and got nothin for results. So I went into Windows File-Types settings and went searching for PHP. It wasnt in there, so I created it and pointed it at the php.exe file, just to test. Didn't solve anything.

Not sure if it'll help, but here's a page with a couple of links to the files im talking about.

[edit]I forgot to mention before, i can run the files if i drop them directly into the htdoc directory, but they cant be in the folder like they are now (to say theres no problems with the code/files). This is bizarre, i know.

Oh, ok. This would probably be an issue with your apache config file. I'm not sure why it would work in htdocs, but not in a subfolder of it, if it is indeed a subfolder. If you are outside of the htdocs folder, then you're not going to be able to parse anything unless you make sure it goes through apache, which would mean editing the apache config file.

I figured it out after I let it sit for a day.

It was as simple as <? ?> vs <?php ?>. All I had to do was edit the <?php to just <?. I dunno if the script was written for php4 and its something with php5, but it's fixed.
