How to enable session ?

Hi,

I been trying to use PHP session but it did not work. I think the reason because my session trans id setting was set to off.

Tried updating my php.ini and set trans id = 1, but when I displayed using php info still says that my trans id is off

My question is how do I set this to ON to make it work ?

Sounds like your install is not correct, since you did not say how the system was set up like the server or the system OS here are the default values for php.ini.
Sessions are supposed to be enabled by default when installing PHP so either something is wrong with the install or some values are incorrect. Auto sessions are off by default also so you would have to start them yourself with script.

Sorry not elaborate my problem . . .

I am using windows 2000 and PHP 4.3.1.1

Not sure which version to update from your list, the closest is the 4.3.0

Does this mean to update php.ini file ? And not sure when you said 'start them yourself with script' how do I do this ?

Will I be easier if I reinstall PHP again.

I have desktop using XP did the same step but my session from there works but when I did it the same in my laptop using window 2000, the same installation step it did not work.

Will it work if I copy my Php.ini from desktop to my laptop ?

Did you restart your server after php.ini changes?

Yes I did, this was just after changing the Trans ID = 1. I did log off and log on again to make sure.
