not GET, not POST so what is it??

Hi Guys,

I am working on a little component i need for joomla.

I am using a link created by joomla and i need to get the eventdate value from it to use in my php. i am a novice at this and have tried

$eventdate = $POST["eventdate"]; and $eventdate = $GET["eventdate"];

neither work so could use a little hand here if thats ok.

This is an example link:

http://www.xxx.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=44&eventdate=26-Jan-2006

i need to get the values for day, month and year out but i am confused as to how i can do this.

Those are http $_GET values. They will be available only on the page linked to, after the link is clicked. Do you mean they're not available even then?

yep, thats whats thrown me!

print_r( $_GET ); returns an empty array. it not in a function either so no need for global. its got me stumped

I suppose it's possible that the page has a redirect, maybe to itself, that doesn't pass the array. Or is it a page you created?

Damb! never even thought of that - looking at the html my php is set within what joomla calls an 'iframe' can i pass from the parent page to the iframe or am i going to have to find another route? (make a cookie to store this???)
