parameter problem

Here is part of the line I'm having a problem with. if catno contains two words separated by a space all I get is the word in front of the space and the rest is lost including the trailing quote mark. What is the correct way to do it?

<a href=php_edit_title.php?id=" . $line[6] . "&catno=" . chr(39) . trim($line[2]) . chr(39)

In this example only the word test shows up. the word this is missing:

<a href=php_edit_title.php?id=" . $line[6] . "&catno=" . chr(39) . "test this" . chr(39) .

My guess is that you need to use [man]rawurlencode/man or [man]urlencode/man.

echo '<a href="example.php?name=' . rawurlencode($foo)
	. '&name2=' . rawurlencode($bar) . '">';
?>
