[RESOLVED] saving POST variables from an IFrame?

Hello,

I have a form which has an Iframe in it. The reason I have the Iframe is because I have a dependent drop down list which refreshes when some clicks a certain button.

All of that works fine... but my problem is, now that I have the drop down in the Iframe refreshing with no problem.. I can't get the value that's in the dropdown to pass when I click "submit form".

I'm guessing I may have to use some type of javascript to get the value that's in the dropdown.

Anyone have any idea as to what I can do?

Hi!
In your iframe document you should have an 'onchange=setValue(this.value)' for the dropdown. In your main document you should have a hidden form field.

// onchange handler in the main document.
function setValue(val)
{
parent.document.forms['theFormName']['hiddenField'].value = value;
}

so when I use

'onchange='setValue(this.value)'

Will it call a function called "setValue" on the MAIN PAGE or on the IFRAME page?

because the code doesn't seem to work from me either way.

The main page(change the type of 'hiddenField' to 'hidden' after testing):

ahhhh Yes! now it works... I see what I did wrong.

I didn't place the function on the right page... Now it works.
