filtering text for links/tooltips

Hello all, Mr Noobie here...

I have a question, I am running a site where a fair amount of jargon gets used and I want to use tool tips to debunk some of this techno speak.

I have the CSS and Javascript knowledge to make the tooltip "popup":-

<DIV TITLE="header=[Title] body=[the Explanation text]" STYLE="BORDER: #558844 1px solid;WIDTH:200px;HEIGHT: 75px">

and I have a list of keywords and explanations:-
Keyword "Pooh" ¦ Title "Winnie the Pooh" ¦ Explanation "Character created by A. A. Milne, and made into a Disney film in 1961"

That sort of thing... for ease of editing (and a lack of knowledge on MySql) I'd like to keep the keywords etc in a text file.

So what I would like to know is,
How do I run a filter on text coming from my DB into my pages that will
a. find keywords from my list
b. replace the simple keyword with the above DIV
c. place the Title and Explanation into the DIV

and secondly how should I format the information in my text file?

Last but not least am I going about this in the right way???

I'd say have everything in the database.... or move over completely to an XML file. The database would be set up like:

|      |             |           | Miln and later  |
|      |             |           | made into a film|

Then, just do a quick query:

$query = "SELECT * FROM pop-ups";
$result = mysql_query($query);

THen, as you're looping through results, just do a quick str_replace finding the key-words, and replacing with your div:

Then, just echo out the contents:

Databases are very nice, and work very well. But some cases they just cannot be used for various reasons.

Here is a way to do the text file:

winnie:-:Winnie the Pooh:-:The Disney character based on a book.
dog:-:That Darn Dog:-: A 50's movie about a dog that loves to get into trouble.
cat:-:Cats Are Bad:-:The truth about cats.

Each one is on a new line. To read from the file use this

$words[$data[0]]['title'] = $data[1];
