what is the PHP equilvlent of this ASP code?

Hi everyone

i have pulled the follwoing code from 'Paypal hacks' by oReilly. it generates a paypal button based upon information held within the database. Problem is its written in ASP and uses recordsets. can someone please please please explain how this could be achived in PHP this is exactly what i need to achive but in ASP.

Well there is big chunks of this code missing. There is no real difference between asp's while, and php's.

So this...

While NOT rsProducts.EOF

is the same as...

while ($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) {

As I said, there are pieces missing from this code. Where is the recordset created for instance?

this appears to be the only code given for the record set creation code but this does not appear complete even to me 🙂

SELECT item_name, item_number, item_price, Id FROM tblProducts

any ideas? as for the while statement that will be a help in the creation of my own version. but any other advice you could give would be aprishiated.

I would just ignore the asp examples in that pdf. All that can be easily done with php following the same concepts.

easily? well im new to this and judging by how long other code is taking me to develop and debug i reckon thats a good week work 🙂 i will have a go though, cheers for the advice

In linux we have a script "asp2php" & "php2asp". However you can d/l the scripts for other oses @ http://asp2php.naken.cc/download.php

I would say ditch the whole ASP code and start from Scratch. ASP and PHP are just too different. I mean one is made by Bill Gates and the other is Open sourced. Apples and Oranges my friend.

problem is i dont feel confident that i can produce that code from scratch thats why i was looking for a template
