Is it possible to access the data in a Microsoft Access database which is maintained on a diffrent server to mine? if so can some one tell me roughly how it can be done and what problems I am likely to encounter.

You might also take a look at COM and .NET functions , especially if yours is Access 2000/2003. ODBC is slow as a boat, especially with Access, so using COM to connect via ADODB should be much faster, as well as gaining much more functionality. .NET would be even better if you know it. There is an example and some usefull user notes here
