Sorry Jason, but here comes another jab at MS (I do like Bill Gate's philanthropy, so there's something positive for you).
Microsoft's net income for the quarter was $3.65 billion, which grew 5% from $3.46 billion for the same quarter of the previous year. They are reporting record profits. $3.65 billion in 3 months and those were the best ideas they had? With all those resources, they should have cured cancer by now, or something equivalent in the computing world, I guess.
Where is the real innovation? The real creativity? The groundbreaking technologies that make everyone go "oooh"?
I believe Weedpacket hit the nail on the head when he said "there is no incentive for them to produce a quality product." Because at that point you are no longer dependent on them. While you still need to rely on them for updates, they still "have you."
It reminds me of the person who goes to a therapist for years... don't you think they should be cured by now? Why would a therapist want to actually cure you? Then they will lose their client and their income. It's much better to seemingly encourage improvement, but not too much. Same thing with Microsoft. They come up with "new" things from time to time, just so it looks like improvement is being made... but they will never "cure" their customer's computer woes and cut them loose.
Did I just equate Microsoft to Dr. Phil? Hmm I guess I did. 🙂
