IE7 actually does worse than IE6 at the acid2 test. Elements are further apart, there are extra items thrown in.... it looks terrible (not that it looked good in IE6). Who knows, maybe it's just part of the beta.... perhaps the engine will get overhauled before release ( i doubt it though ).

Prediction: both Vista and IE7 will come up very short. Office and the general Vista interface will get a thousand new features that people won't really care about.

OS X 10.5 will have the built-in ability to run MANY other operating systems simultaneously. And if you think I'm crazy just look at this...

Now I understand a little more why Apple moved to Intel (to cozy up to 'enemy' turf) and to produce the worlds most versatile machine. The question could become - why buy anything but an Apple computer?

For people who believe that MS is innovative...this is a glimpse at what real innovation is.

Vista doesn't do much more than give a nicer look to XP... the file-system has changed, and some new windows features are integrated. But for the most part, it's just another "skin" to XP. I've used it, and hated it. To run an application you have to okay it to run, then allow it in the firewall, then OKAY it again that it ran....WTF? I'm sure you could turn it off, but I was lazy....

The automated install ins't that good. You don't get any feedback about what is going on, just a small green bar at the very bottom that moves from:

that's it. That was the install. It asked about your CD key, asked your computers name, asks your name, and then you're done for the next like 45 minutes as it "auto-installs".

I can't wait to get my mac...... just need to wait for my checks to come in... but my god.... it looks so good, and I'm sure it doesn't have too much to worry about with crashes/hacks/virii.......

I honestly don't think I did... the "trojan" still requires you to open it and allow it to run.... I'm not a moron when it comes to unknown inbound transfers and unknown files.....

If you're too stupid to NOT open a file that you don't know where it originated from, you shouldn't own a computer, unless it's an Apple II E.....

SO true... so true....

You know what else Macs do that PCs don't? They run cooler!! And faster (so how can an Intel run faster than itself?) That's all down to the coding and how the OS gives the load to the CPU. Not sure if anything's changed, but when they were on the PPC core, the load was split 50/50, 33/33/33 or whatever. Each app had an equal amount of CPU usage.... not like Windows where the current window gets 100% (which why 1 program freezing fucks your computer).

Oh, and Mac is just a smater interface that isn't overburdening the current hardware (like Vista will)....

Ok, I'd just like to point out that it wasn't a dig against Brett, it just amused me that he posted that then a day or so later the trojan was announced.

As you will see from here I'm trying to get away from MS asap. I did a reinstall last week. I didn't even go to any websites, but somehow I got hit with spyware on a clean install!!!

I'm just waiting until the shops open here so I can go, buy some DVDRs, back up what I've got and then windows can wave bye bye

Sorry Piersk. It's been a rough week for Apple folk. I could link to some articles (like John Dvorak's) claiming that Apple is completely dead and looking to merge with MS. A little blip and people want to think it's over. How about MS actually improving their crap before they call out the trumpeteers.

I am pretty convinced that OSX is both going to run other operating systems AND they are going to offer support services for it...

Yeah... they're trying, but improvements they made actually messed up some of the solid stuff they had (funny how code does that...).

Indeed. I was quite chagrined to find that my exquisite transparent PNG layouts 😃 were totally wonked by IE6.

Of course, if nobody updates, then it won't matter, anyway. Suppose IE7 will install automagically via Windows Update(r)?

i bet it's gonna be an auto update, once it goes public.... but will you be able to not upgrade without losing windows functionality? i.e. will the new updates (post ie7 release & update) require you to have ie7 (like Windows update now requires BITS 1.0 or something)....
