how to compile PHP with calendar

I would like to be able to use the enable-calendar to convert dates to julian. Unfortunately everything i read says you have to compile php with enable-calendar.

I have to admit that I am not sure how to do this.

If someone knows what that article is talking about, I would love to know how to do this.

I also would like to know what happens to my existing php and php.ini file. If I need to redo my changes and such.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Great! Which version of php are you running again? I think I missed it in your post.....

php 4.3.3 running on an iseries
