[RESOLVED] Redirecting Problem

User will login if ok redirect to a menu page.

Error message:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - header already sent by (output started by xxxx.php) on line xx

The code I use ro redirect:

header ("Location: http://" . $SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] . dirname($SERVER['PHP_SELF']) . "/menupage.php?selmenu=1" . SID);

Whats the problem?

On the login page you have a form or something that provides output you can not have output before a header. If you are using a form why not just have an action in the form that send to whatever page you want them to go to, then you will not get that error but go to the page you want them to.

Sorry I should give amore clearer picture:

I develope the system using Win2000, IIS, MySQL, PHP5.1.2

I tested the login page it works.

I tested it on Linux RHWS3, Apache, MySQL PHP 4.3.9 where it gives the above error.

Does the PHP version have anything to do with this?

Try this and see what you get.

$uri  = rtrim(dirname($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']), '/\\');
$extra = 'menupage.php?selmenu=1" . SID';
header("Location:http://$host/$uri/$extra");

Its working.

Also I found that one needs to set the

output_buffering = on (or set the size to 4096)

in php.ini

But this will slow down php output layer.
