Editing and adding recordsets

Hi,

I am just starting to add edit, delete and add functions to a MySQL database using php and forms. My trouble is how do I ensure that the forms will not be filled out by a bot? I am planning on placing the pages in an .htaccess protected folder and not indexing the pages but I am worried that bots will still find them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

if you hide files behind a password protected folder then a bot (or anyone else) without the password will not be able to access the data.

Really??
I thought that .htaccess was considered "hokey" and that anyone with a bit of programming skills could get by. If this is the case then I'm set!!
