Quick question about require and includes

Hi

in my php files, when i include or require an html template file, is my php file still considered a php file or is it now a php and html file?

i'm trying to learn how to code more efficient for server load sake, cause i heard the server works twice as hard if it has to interpret html and php...

if there's a link to help guide me, cause all the books teach you to put your html templates in a template folder and include them from your php file...

The server does not interpret HTML the browser does, the server merely delivers the HTML and the browser interprets it, that is why different browsers produce different results. The PHP on the other hand is interpreted but if it sees <? or <% the server knows that that is probably PHP or ASP or something besides HTML and when it sees the closing %> or ?> it then just delivers the content of the HTML to the users browser, so actually the real load on the server is that of PHP or ASP or Perl. If you include an HTML file into your PHP it would still be considered a PHP file.
