Same Web Address

Hi all,

I have a database web with this default address:
http://localhost/home.php

There's a link in my page which when clicked, it will direct me to http://localhost/page1.php

How can I make my address car to show http://localhost/home.php instead of http://localhost/page1.php when I click the link?

1) use frames (not the best way)
2) create 2 pages in 1:
if($_GET["page1"]){echo("page1 contents");}else{echo("home contents");}
the link would be home.php?page1

But why would you want to do this?

I have a page http://localhost/page2.php which I only allow certain users to access it.
Howver, after login to http://localhost/page1.php....ANY LOGIN USER can access http://localhost/page2.php by just changing the web address from page1.php tp page2.php. FYI, I'm using session for the login.

Any suggestion?

so page 2 should have the same url in the address bar as page1 because page2 needs to be unknown since it is secure data only a few people can see.
U are using sessions with your login script but you dont want to use them on page 2? why is that? might make it a lot simpler

If you only write "home.php?page1", page1 WON'T be defined. It must have an equal sign, so I suggest something like "home.php?page1=1" This way, it will be set.

ow wel srry didnt test it just wrote it down quick, guess you need isset() ?

That's a good idea, that would prevent some errors to be shown 😉

Also, @$_GET['page1'] could be used so it doesn't return an error message if not set...

Errors? how can you get an error from the following questin is there a ?page1 yes do this otherwise do that, dont see how ?page1 can give an error.
(and if u need to use @ remember to put a little errorhandler so you know there was an error(to the starter of this post :p) )

A good debugging practice is to make PHP output all errors, including undefined variables...

Something like :
Notice: Undefined variable: lala in (...) on line 1

see you wont have this problem. (Im not the best scripter so i might be wrong :p ) Because,
1) i never had a notice like it before :p
2) If isset else hmmm variable undefined just dont execute the if (this is apache thinking out loud) ah there is an else tag let's see whats in there
Now where is the error, or are you just some1 who puts @ in front of every line so you dont get an error for sure (not tryin to insult you :p )

With isset() it will of course not show error messages since no error will be produced ! I usually don't put @ with variables that always have to be defined. If they are not, then an custom error message will be displayed (like "Missing fields...")

FYI, I'm using sessions for all my pages.

However, any logined user can access to any link (web address)..that's the reason I want to show the home.php only, so that restricted users may not access to page1.php

How can I put 2 pages into 1 page or is there a better solution to this?
