RegEX question

hi all,
can someone Write a regular expression to match valid Windows XP file names. Such a file name consists of any sequence of characters orther than

/ \ : * ? " < > |

Additionally, it cannot begin with a space or period

That should work, but I'm not gonna guarantee anything...

Yes you right : this expression doesn't work !

So play around with it.... we aren't going to just give you the answer.... It's a starting point...

It could be as easy as some characters needing escaped, it could be something else... I'll have to test later tonight after I get home from work...
