newbie question, answer please!!!

hi all
im newbie in this language, please answer my few question below

1. can i use php for OO progamming? 😕
2. I learn Use Xampp, but if is write some php code in notepad and i save it with extention .php , it could'nt be run ( i run it use IE6)
   am i has to install some software or have to configure some setting in my computer? 😕
