I work on a site which receives about 10k uniques a day, and am trying to fiqure out how to optimise it better.
The question is which is less server intensive the MYSQL query or reading several txt files ?
How long is a piece of string?
As a general rule, a database is faster than flat files, unless the files are very small or the queries very complex. Also depends on how much processing the files would need once you've read them.
