Update a DB by Email

Does anyone know what one needs to be able to update a db by simpley sending an email? The idea is to be able to extend an existing photo gallery to add new photos by sending an email.

posibly be done with a cron script on a server set to excute everything in a directory (that the mail server passes the files to after reciving them) to a mysql script.

However.... there are a bunch of mail headers there in every email message that could cause some errors unless you are able to filter that out some how.

but honestly you would have to know the mysql command line commands to excute things correctly.

I have had no luck trying to find a class that could do such a thing. Does anyone know of one?

I don't think 'I fully understand how Cron would do the trick. I could see using it to trigger a PHP script to strip content and files out of an email and store it in a DB, but something has to trigger Cron (Apache or some SMTP controller?).

to do thing by email.. i honestly do not think it can be done. sorry dude.

It should be possible to write an email client using the POP or IMAP functions that will check the mailbox on a regular (cron-fired) basis. If you chuck in the PECL mailparse extension that will take care of all the MIME stuff, too (although if you didn't want to load in an additional extension you could write a MIME decoder yourself or find one somewhere on the Net).
